Reading Options

After looking at all of the different reading options for this semester, here is a list of my top 3 choices:

 1.  Narayan's Ramayana. R. K. Narayan (1906-2001)
    This option seems best for my reading style. The book is laid more traditional compared to the other option. I am very excited to get to read this book next week.

 2. Narayan's Mahabharata. R. K. Narayan (1906-2001) 
  I chose to go with another Narayan novel because of the more modern language and the material seems easier to read. I want to make such that I understand what is going on in the stories. 

 3. Mahabharata: Karmic Revolution
   As the semester comes to a close, I would like to finish with a movie. I always seem to retain a lot of information from more visual media. I am also excited to see how the film ties in with the rest of the semester.

I am currently a senior at the University of Oklahoma majoring in International Studies with 3 minors.   Throughout my time at OU, I have had the opportunity to study abroad 2 times. I chose to go to Seoul, South Korea each time. I started learning Korean at a young age, so I was able to adjust to Korean life very fast. During my stay there, I was not only a student, but I also worked at an NGO in marketing to help with North Korean defectors. Why Sleeping May Be More Important Than Studying By  Katrina Schwartz One thing that I already knew about sleep was that it is important to your mental health. But, it is very challenging to get the right about of sleep every night. One new thing that I learned while reading this article was that many children are facing serious sleep derivation issues. This is affects test scores around the country. The study conducted was to see what happens with a child is able to properly rest. By sleeping, children are able to retain and recall more information. One thing that this article has inspired me to do is to stop cramming. By cramming in essays or projects at the last minute, I am not able to sleep overnight. This leads to my work not having as good of quality and my personality changes depending on how tired I am.
