Week 8 Reading and Writing

I can't believe how fast this semester has been going. As we approach the middle of the semester, I have taken the time to look back at my past reading assignments. I first struggled with finding the style of notes that I wanted to type. But, after looking at other blogs, I was able to develop a style that worked for me. I thought that picking out my top 3 readings would be more useful than summarizing the entire section. Through my top 3, I am able to create a story from it. I have always struggled with creative writing, but this course has helped give me a more creative outlet to express myself.

I picked this image of Rama because I enjoyed reading the epic about him so much. I did not think that I would enjoy reading epics, but this was very manageable and I was able to learn a lot from this teachings. Also, while I was in a small city in Germany the other day, I was in a store and the owner had pictures of Rama. This was really cool because I knew who Rama was.

Overall, the reading notes assignments have been very useful for me. I have been able to retain more of the stories instead of just forgetting them after I finish reading. For the second half of the semester, I hope to improve my note taking skills.

I am currently a senior at the University of Oklahoma majoring in International Studies with 3 minors.   Throughout my time at OU, I have had the opportunity to study abroad 2 times. I chose to go to Seoul, South Korea each time. I started learning Korean at a young age, so I was able to adjust to Korean life very fast. During my stay there, I was not only a student, but I also worked at an NGO in marketing to help with North Korean defectors. Week 2 Story: Always the Villain

This pond was special because there was an abundance of fish and wildlife. Among the wildlife, there was a crane. This crane was no ordinary crane, he was lonelier than the rest. Day by day, he would befriend the fish in the pond because of his lack of crane friends. Crane: "Hey guys! How are you today?" The Fish (in unison): "Hey crane! We are good. Do you want to play with us today?" In response, the Crane agreed. He just wanted to have some friends. Being a crane is a lonely life. As time passed, he grew hungry from playing in the water.
