-Gaia is the earth mother
-The only way she would have a son, she had to castrate the father
-Gaia saved one son
-Primal
-Story of a girl that wanted to go back home by boat. The father kicked her off the boat and each time she tried to climb back he would cut her fingers and hands. Her limbs sunk to the bottom of the ocean and turned into animals
-Brama thought that Adya was his mother
-Stories around the world compete for women
-Low status of women, even in Indian culture
-But, in the stories, women are powerful
-Culture revolves around the idea that a group of women only need one male to survive
Chapter 1.2
-Rejection of sex = god of death
-Humanity is at the mercy of goddesses
-But, women were not seen highly
-Men would turn to celibacy for strength
-Reject women gives men freedom from suffering
-Men are supposed to have children before they become celibate
-Women eventually had to turn to giving up their bodies for pleasure
-"She was reduced to a field"

I am currently a senior at the University of Oklahoma majoring in International Studies with 3 minors.   Throughout my time at OU, I have had the opportunity to study abroad 2 times. I chose to go to Seoul, South Korea each time. I started learning Korean at a young age, so I was able to adjust to Korean life very fast. During my stay there, I was not only a student, but I also worked at an NGO in marketing to help with North Korean defectors. This experience for me really changed my point of view because I was able to learn about other cultures while learning more about myself.    As soon as I turned 18, I did not know what to do with my life, I always followed what my friends were doing. This pond was special because there was an abundance of fish and wildlife. Among the wildlife, there was a crane. This crane was no ordinary crane, he was lonelier than the rest. Day by day, he would befriend the fish in the pond because of his lack of crane friends. Crane: "Hey guys! How are you today?" The Fish (in unison): "Hey crane! We are good. Do you want to play with us today?" In response, the Crane agreed. He just wanted to have some friends. Being a crane is a lonely life. As time passed, he grew hungry from playing in the water.
